INGREDIENTS TO AVOID WITH COLOUR-TREATED HAIR
WHEN IT COMES TO HAIR COLOUR, WE ARE THE INGREDIENT POLICE.
Every single ingredient we put into a Color Wow formula is tested for safety and efficacy. Here at Color Wow, we take one extra step... We ensure that no ingredients can negatively impact your colour.
We’ve identified over 75 ingredients that can darken or distort your colour!
It’s shocking, but true: many products that claim to be “colour-safe” contain ingredients that can corrupt and change your colour. At Color Wow, we take the welfare of your hair colour seriously.
We diligently police our products to make sure that they’re not only super safe for fragile, colour-treated hair but that they do not contain any ingredients that could dull or darken your colour, or turn it brassy.
Here are some of the evil-doers you’ll find in most so-called “colour-safe” products… but never in Color Wow!
INGREDIENTS YOU SHOULD AVOID
Besides being potentially irritating, essential oils like rosemary, peppermint, rose, vanilla, cedar and patchouli can darken your colour.
Color Wow is sulphate-free because these harsh detergents found in typical shampoos can dehydrate hair and strip colour.
3. OXIDISING AGENTSNope, we don’t have ingredients like hydrogen peroxide, bromates and persulphates. These ingredients can break down natural hair colour and distort chemically-processed colour.
Typically found in conditioners and hair sprays, these nitrogen compounds darken when exposed to air and light, which can stain your hair yellow or brown.
- Conditioners that contain Stearalkonium Chloride, Dicetyldimonium Chloride, Steartrimonium Chloride, Aminoethylaminopropyldimethicone
- Divinyl Trimethylsiloxyamodimethicone, Bis-Hydroxy/Methoxy Amodimethicone, Aminopropyl Triethoxysilane
- Nitrogen compounds such as those that contain Triethanolamine (TEA), monoethanolamine (MEA) or Ammonia
- Hair sprays that contain polymers such as PVM/MA Coploymer, Octylacrylamide/Acrylates/Butylaminoethyl Methacrylate Copolymer, Polyurethane -1, Polyurethane-14, PVP/Vinyl Caprolactam/DMAPA Acrylates Copolymer, VA/Vinyl Butylbenzoate/Crotonates Copolymer
We don’t have any, because, well, they colour the formula, but dye your hair, too. These include dyes such as Para-phenylene diamine (PPD), diaminobenzene, toluene-2,5-diamine, Nitroaminophenols, ortho or para-aminophenols, Lead acetate, Henna.
