EASY HEATLESS HAIRSTYLES: CREATE HEATLESS WAVES OVERNIGHT!

In warmer weather, we find ourselves searching for easy heatless hairstyles and creative ways to keep our strands from frizzing out from humidity. Yep, when those lazy, hazy days of summer arrive, who wants to spend the time and effort blow drying? Heat free hair is the way to go. The only problem is that heatless styles can be unpredictable. They can leave you looking like a hot mess.

But when we stumbled upon this tutorial for cute heatless waves while you sleep by L.A. stylist Cynthia Dhimdis (@cynthiadhimdishair), we couldn’t believe the amazingly beachy results!

“I never do heatless waves. I’m always using a hot tool, and the reason being is because when I braid my hair I never know what’s going to be the outcome when I take it out,” says Cynthia. “I never thought I’d be able to do something like this. But it doesn’t look so crimpy and so braid-y. It’s more natural, like a natural wave.”

So get ready to shut down those hot tools and create waves with your eyes shut. Check out Cynthia’s tutorial below to get this look for yourself.

CUTE HEATLESS HAIRSTYLES: HEATLESS WAVES OVERNIGHT

Step 1. After washing, part your damp/wet hair as usual before splitting the rest of your hair into two sections for pigtails. For a boost of moisture and shine while your hair dries, prep your midlengths and ends with 1-2 pumps of Pop + Lock Glossing Serum. This will also help tame frizz.

PRO TIP: If your hair has a hard time holding heatless styles (or holding waves in general), start styling while your hair is wet (not damp!) so you get a tighter curl when it dries. If you want a looser curl, you can create this style on damp hair.

Step 2. Starting on your right side, begin your twist by grabbing two adjacent sections of hair at the front of your head. Cross your front piece over your back piece. Using your thumbs, add hair to both the front and back pieces before crossing the front over the back again (think French braid!). Continue until there’s no more hair to add.

PRO TIP: For tighter waves, make sure to twist your hair tightly as you work your way down the hair to avoid it falling out while you sleep.

Step 3. When you can’t add anymore hair, continue to twist your two strands around each other until you reach your ends. Secure with an elastic.

Step 4. Repeat on your left section of hair.

Step 5. Let hair dry overnight.

Step 6. In the morning, take out your twists to reveal relaxed, soft waves. Mist on Style on Steroids Texturizing Spray for a boost of volume. Flip head over and massage your roots for an even more voluminous finish.
