What are sulphates?

Sulphates, like sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS) and sodium laureth sulphate, are synthetic detergents originally developed for laundry and historically used in shampoos.

They create a lathering effect in shampoos but can be harsh on hair, stripping away natural oils and causing the hair cuticle to swell, leading to dryness and damage.

Why should I use sulphate-free hair products?

Sulfate-free shampoos are gentler, helping to keep your hair’s cuticle smooth, retaining vital moisture, proteins, and colour, especially important for compromised or colour-treated hair.

How can I tell if a product is sulphate-free?

Check the ingredients list for sulphates like "sodium
lauryl sulphate" or "ammonium laureth sulphate." These are harsh ingredients you should avoid.
